Mindil Beach is a beach in the Northern Territory of Australia located in the suburb of The Gardens located near Darwin's central business district.
Memories of beautiful places like Mindil Beach come to mind as I sit here in my home during our 5th lockdown in Victoria. The past couple of years have certainly been challenging for most of us. I miss my family in Melbourne especially since we now have grandchildren. Thank goodness for video messenger enabling us to see and chat to eachother.
How do we cope when the world outside of us is going crazy? Have Faith over Fear. Be positive and do positive. It is OK to have afew bad days but don't stay there in the darkness. Seek help! My best advice would be to seek gratitude from the things that fill your cup. For me it is the constant source of laughter my husband brings into my life. He is silly and very literal but very funny. Laughter is the best medicine even if he does drive me batty at times.
Also the animals on our farm are always doing something to attract our attention. Nature gives us such opportunity to breathe and refresh ourselves. So walk in nature or even outside to get some fresh air. Notice the things around you as your mindfully walk around. The trees, flowers, birds, sounds, the warmth of the sun or the breeze. Take photos to remind you where you were at that time in space. Maybe journal about your feelings during that walk. Great way to deal with feelings is journalling.
Take time as you have time to connect with those people you live with. They too are being challenged by this world we live in. Especially the children. Check in with them often as you can. This situation is real and confusing. Also we all need our communities be it family, friends or likeminded peeps. Don't go it alone. We need connections to our outer world too.
Catch up on projects and good books you have meant to do or read for ages. We now have the time from the busy, so lets keep occupied. I am still to do some painting and craft projects. I will get there. We have time right.
Meditation and gratitute journals are great if you want to deep dive into those things beneath you want to address moving forward. And of course make sure you have collaborative partners to help you should shit get too real. Friends and family can be of assistance or if need be seek professional advice.
If you need help or assistance don't hesitate to reach out and I will always hold space for you as you "find yourself in the most strangest of times". Thanks for reading.
